Writer/Author

The new expanded me

Ok so where have I been? Not doing my projects anymore as you have probably figured out.  I now live in an apartment on the 8th floor of a 20 story high rise; no room for tools up here! I have traded, at least for time being my saws for a keyboard. I have been writing poetry and children's stories for many years; going back to my college days and since no room for saws, I figured this would be safer.

I will try to keep you enlightened with some of my poems and stories and I have many to share here with you. Also keep you posted on what is in the mix for me concerning my stories. I will be attending my first writer's convention this fall on October 5th in Chandler, Ok sponsored by the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, Ok.
At the convention there will be three literary agents that will be reading and looking for writers they feel they could represent through their agencies. I have already sent my manuscript in for their review and will hope and pray that this will be the break I have been looking for for sometime.

Any work I post here feel free to comment on and give me feedback; good or bad. You won't hurt my feelings and take your comments into consideration.

And now ladies and gentlemen; my first poetry post for you to enjoy and give feedback on.

HIGH DESERT RIDER
By Richard Bohlier

Well, so this is the high desert of heaven,
I knew I’d make it, old Hawk was awaitin fer me.
I’m back in the saddle atop Ol Hawk and ride’n across this high desert.
We rode many a trail over the years down yonder,
An I tol him we’d be together again when he past on.
Tol him I’d come along one day soon so keep the saddle high an dry.

Ranch’n and drive’n them doggies was the life.
I enjoyed the desert sunsets, they were magnificent,
The burning reds, hot pinks and golden yellows streaking across the sky,
It was a wonder of God I’d tell Ol Hawk.
An one day Hawk an me; we’d be ride’n the high desert an watch em up there.

Now I’d been called an outlaw by some in my time,
Only because of my ponytail and pierced earrings.
But I figure they just didn't understand me is all,
I loved my life and lived it accordn.
I have no regrets about the way I lived,
For to live life as I had; not everyone gets the chance.
I would not have changed a thing.
An dye’n, shucks, this is where I wanted to be;
Ride’n the high desert with Ol Hawk.
